Autism Program
5 - 7 years old
The program for 5 - 7 year old students with Autism will follow the TEACHH model. TEACHH is an evidence-based structured form of visual learning that takes into account each child's strengths and difficulties.
Social and Language Skills
Through structured teaching and carefully personalized activities, students will develop social and language skills by providing opportunities to practice skills such as sharing, turn taking, vocabulary expansion, conversation and emotional regulation
Academics
Each day students will complete activities from a visual curriculum designed for students with Autism in mind and many hands-on and engaging lessons that allow them to further develop reading, math, writing, science and social studies skills.
Independence
A vital part of our program is preparing students to become independent members of society. Visual schedules, time management, rewards for task completion and daily life skills practice allow students to gain independence skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
Research Based Teaching Methods
Along with TEACHH, a variety of other research-based teaching methods for learners with Autism will be incorporated into our program including ABA techniques, discreet trial training, step by step instructions, visual support, frequent breaks and much more.
Community Learning
Community learning opportunities will give students to relate what they are learning in the classroom to the real world. Each month students will attend field-trips and community outings that will help them develop academic, social and life skills.
Structured Teaching
Each week students will participate in a variety of carefully designed and preplanned activities that include one-to one time with a teacher, small and whole group learning and independent work. Each activity is designed to be meaningful and engaging and help each child meet their individual goals.
